The best camera is……

The best camera is……

According to photographer Zack Arias the best camera is the one you have on you.  One of the quandaries that I often have is do I take my heavy SLR camera kit with me incase I see a good photo or do I leave it in the studio where it is safe and secure and I don’t have to lug it around.

As I head off in a couple of weeks to South Korea I have given plenty of thought to what camera gear I will be taking with me.  This has led to me purchasing a new camera, a Fuji X100s a small mirrorless camera that gives me a carry around everywhere camera.  I will still be taking my SLR kit but when I don’t want to be burdened with the weight or travel light then I will have another option.

While the X100s is a small lightweight camera it still packs a punch, it has a 16Mpx sensor and has the full exposure control of an SLR. The biggest limitation over an SLR is that it has a fixed 23mm lens. However I find this refreshing, as when I started out in photography I only had a 50mm lens and had to work hard to compose my images within that focal length.

Now I have a small camera that I can take everywhere with me I dropped it in my golf bag as I headed out for a round, not only did I win my game but I was able to take the photo below as I played my round.
